Programming an Xfinity Voice Remote to control a specific TV Box or TV Adapter is called “pairing.”
Once a remote is paired, it won’t work with any other TV Boxes until you break that connection. With only a few steps, you can easily switch your remote to another TV whenever you need to.
Turn off pairing on a remote
Remotes with a Setup button
- Press and hold the Setup button for three seconds until the status light turns from red to green.
- Enter 9-8-1 on the remote.
- If the status light blinks green twice, the pairing for the remote has been reset.
- If the status light blinks green twice, the pairing for the remote has been reset.
Remotes without a Setup button
XR15 Xfinity X1 and Flex Voice Remote have number keys.
- Press and hold the A (triangle) and D (diamond) buttons at the same time for three seconds until the status light changes from red to green.
- Enter 9-8-1 on the remote.
- If the status light blinks blue twice, the pairing for the remote has been turned off.
- If the status light blinks blue twice, the pairing for the remote has been turned off.
Now, you can pair your remote to a new TV Box, and also to a different TV if you’d like. When aimed directly at the original X1 TV Box, it’ll still control that too.
Remotes without number keys and Setup button
E.g., XR16 Xfinity Flex Voice Remote:
- Press and hold Info (i) and Home together for three seconds until the LED flashes.
- Press Power, Last (Last Arrow <) and Volume Down (-) in sequence.
Note: If you unpaired a Voice Remote, it won’t respond to voice commands. You’ll need to pair it to an X1 or streaming TV Box for this feature to work.
