Get the most out of the On-Screen Guide on your SD TV Adapter! Here’s how to use features like:

Remote Help
- Press the INFO button. Select Remote Help and press 5 or ENTER.
- This shows you how to use your remote to move around the On-Screen Guide.
- Use the 2 button to move up, the 6 button to move right, the 8 button to move down, the 4 button to move left and 5 or ENTER to select.
- Pressing LAST goes back to the earlier menu.
When programmed, the remote that came with your TV Adapter will control both your TV and TV Adapter. It won't control other equipment, like DVD players or VCRs.
To be sure your remote control can access your guide:
- Check if the batteries work.
- Make sure the front of the TV Adapter is clear.
- If you are have an issue with a specific button, it may be inactive and reserved for future use.
SmartBar
- To use, push the INFO button.
- Use the SmartBar to see the TV listings guide grid, Setup, Remote Help and more information.
- To turn the SmartBar off on a standard definition (SD) TV Adapter with a TV Adapter remote:
- Press the INFO button on your remote.
- Select Setup by pushing the 8 button (down arrow) and push OK (5) on your remote.
- Select Guide Setup and push the 6 button (right arrow) on your remote.
- Highlight SmartBar timeout, then press OK (5) on your remote until timeout is set to OFF.
TV Listings Guide Grid View
- You can load the Guide Grid two ways:
- Push ENTER on the remote to display the Guide Grid
or - Push the INFO button on the remote, scroll to TV Listings and push 5 or ENTER.
- Push ENTER on the remote to display the Guide Grid
- Use the Guide Grid to scroll through TV Listings to view current and future shows.
Note: You can only see 24-28 hours of program info.
Note: You may see To be announced in the TV Listings instead of TV show names if you lost power to the TV Adapter. Data will begin to reload within ten minutes once power returns.
Program Information
- Push the INFO button twice on the current channel or once for another show while in TV Listings.
- Use program information to view show info, like duration and channel.
Note: You can only see 24-28 hours of program info.
Setup
- Push the INFO button, navigate to Setup and push 5 or ENTER.
- Use Setup to customize the user interface.
Guide Setup
Use Guide Setup to change four options:
- Guide Text Language: Change the language of the text display (English or Spanish).
- SmartBar timeout: Default setting for the SD TV Adapter is off, but it can be switched to 5, 10 or 15 seconds. To change the SmartBar timeout:
- In Setup, highlight SmartBar timeout by pushing the 6 button and the 8 button.
- Press the ENTER key or 5 button until the status shows the SmartBar timeout setting you want.
- SmartBar position: Default setting is the bottom of the screen, though you can change it to the top.
- On-Screen Remote Help.
Highlight the option to be changed and push the ENTER key or 5 button, or the 6 button (right arrow) to select it.
Then push the ENTER key or 5 button to toggle to the desired option.
Audio Setup
Choose your preferred settings for the best audio experience (English or Spanish).
Note: If the channel you're watching has more than one audio track for a show, available options may be displayed.
Closed Captioning
Captions come from your TV, not the SD TV Adapter. Turn on Closed Captioning with your TV's remote. Custom Closed Captioning settings are only on HD TV Adapters.
Parental Controls
Limit access to certain types of content by blocking channels, locking shows by rating or hiding titles.
Locks Setup:
- Press INFO.
- Go to Setup (push 5 or Enter).
- Go to Locks Setup (push 5 or Enter).
- Choose to lock by Movie, TV Rating or Channel.
If you forget the Parental Control PIN, you can find it online by clicking Forgot PIN in the Parental Controls section on your account or contact us for help.
Locks Setup contains a Parental Control summary of current Parental Control settings.
Create a PIN:
- Select INFO.
- Go to Setup (push 5 or ENTER).
- Go to Locks Setup (push 5 or ENTER).
- Push 6 (right arrow) for PIN Setup.
- Enter PIN in the number boxes.
- If you try to view a locked channel, you'll see:
- To unlock and view the channel, enter your Parental Control PIN.
- If you try to view a locked channel, you'll see:
Additional Features
Channel Locks:
- Use Channel Locks to stop access to all shows airing on specific channels.
- A green unlocked lock icon appears if no restrictions are set up.
- A red locked icon appears if restrictions are set up.
Enter Locks PIN:
- To watch a show that was locked via Parental Controls, enter the 4-digit PIN. Push the ENTER button on the remote.
Hide Titles:
- Hide titles and descriptions of shows marked Mature Audiences Only and/or Adult Audiences Only.
Movie Rating:
- Use Movie Rating to limit access to movies based on ratings.
- A green unlocked lock icon appears if no restrictions are set.
- A red locked icon appears if restrictions are set.
TV Rating:
- Use TV Rating to limit access to TV shows based on ratings.
- A green unlocked icon appears if no restrictions are set.
- A red locked icon appears if restrictions are set.
Channel Banners:
- Channel Banners include the channel number and channel information. This displays only when the SmartBar is off in Guide Setup.
Diagnostics
- Access Diagnostics by pushing the INFO button. Highlight Setup and scroll to Diagnostics.
- The Diagnostics section includes info that can help you troubleshoot, like device info, software versions, signal strength, remote commands, activation/refresh data, channel map availability and channel encryption information.
