Newer WiFi products use WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) to eliminate the need to select or enter your WiFi information, such as the WiFi Network Name (SSID) and WiFi Network Key (password).
You can quickly set up a wireless Internet connection (WiFi) with a Wireless Gateway using WPS. You can do this two ways:
- Set up WiFi Using Push Button Configuration (PBC) – Automatic
- Set up WiFi Using Personal Identification Number (PIN) – Manual
If the computer or other electronic device supports WPS, the WPS feature of the Wireless Gateway automatically sets up a secure WiFi network. A wireless product that's capable of WPS displays a WPS sticker or label.
Set up WiFi Using Push Button Configuration (PBC)
Depending on the WiFi product, certain devices may require different connection steps.
To set up a WiFi connection:
- Press the WiFi Products with WPS button on the computer or the WiFi product, or
- Press the WPS button on your gateway within two minutes. See where the WPS button is located on different gateways in the pictures below. The computer or WiFi product will display a success message when it's connected to your home network.
xFi Advanced Gateway (XB7 and higher)
Note: When you press the WPS button on the xFi Advanced Gateway (XB7 and higher), the blue LED light will slowly blink, indicating it's in the WPS pairing mode. Once the pairing is complete, the light will be white (operational mode).
xFi Advanced Gateway (XB6)
Note: When you press the WPS button on the xFi Advanced Gateway (XB6), the blue LED light will slowly blink, indicating it's in the WPS pairing mode. Once the pairing is complete, the light will be white (operational mode).

Set up WiFi Using Personal Identification Number (PIN)
To set up WiFi using a PIN:
- Make sure WiFi on the WiFi product is turned on.
- Open the WiFi Protected Setup Utility and choose the PIN method.
- Select the WiFi Network Name (SSID) you want to connect to.
- Generate a PIN number. The countdown will start for to two or five minutes.
- Go to the Admin Tool of the Wireless Gateway (http://10.0.0.1) using a device which is already connected to the Wireless Gateway.
- Enter admin in the Username field and password (unless it was changed) in the Password field.
- Click LOGIN.
- Select Gateway > Connection > WiFi.
- On the WiFi page, select ADD WIFI PROTECTED SETUP (WPS) CLIENT.
- Make sure WiFi Protected Setup is enabled.
- For Connections Options, select PIN Number.
- For Wireless Client's PIN, enter the PIN (created in Step 2) before the WiFi Protected Setup Utility finishes its countdown.
- Click PAIR. The WiFi product will detect the Wireless Gateway and establish a WiFi connection.
Notes:
- The WiFi Protected Setup Utility or the WPS PIN methods are only available if the WiFi product supports it.
- If the WiFi Protected Setup client prompts for the Wireless Gateway PIN during the connection, then enter the WiFi Protected Setup PIN printed on the label at the bottom panel of the Wireless Gateway.
If WPS Isn’t Working
If WPS isn't working, we recommend that you personalize your WiFi network name and password.
