Remove Your Existing Power Adapter
Before proceeding, make sure that your system is disarmed. Working on devices while the system is armed can generate false alarms.
Be aware. This device is designed for use with duplex outlets having a center screw. The adapter should not be installed in a ceiling or in a wall outlet higher than 6-1/2 feet from the floor. The touchscreen may beep during the power adapter installation process or it may turn off to conserve battery power. The touchscreen will stop beeping once the installation is complete and power is restored. The display will come back on once power is restored. There is no need to turn the touchscreen off before beginning the power adapter installation.
Caution: Risk of electric shock. To prevent the risk of electric shock, take precautions to not expose the outlet’s wiring when removing the outlet cover screw. When removing the outlet cover screw, the cover may fall across the plug pins or the outlet may become displaced. Secure the unit in place using the provided outlet cover screw.
- Locate the wall outlet that holds the existing power adapter for the touchscreen.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the outlet center screw securing the power adapter to the outlet. If your adapter is not secured to the outlet with a screw, skip this step.
- Unplug the power adapter from the outlet.
- To avoid scratching the screen, place the touchscreen face down on a clean towel.
- Remove the screw located at the bottom of touchscreen. Keep the screw for use during reinstallation.
- Remove the back panel by pulling the attached stand toward the top of the touchscreen. The back panel should unsnap as the stand tilts forward.
- Unplug the existing power adapter cable from the DC input port, being careful not to disturb the SIM card located next to the power barrel.
- Thread the existing power adapter cable out of the hole in the back panel.
- Dispose of the old power adapter.
- To help protect the environment, please do not dispose of the old adapter in the trash. Check with a local waste carrier or your municipality to learn where it can be recycled.

Be aware: The TCA300 Touchscreen Controller is designed to work over WiFi only. If an ethernet cable is present, the power adapter’s barrel will not fit inside that unit with the back closed. Contact us to have the touchscreen reconfigured to work over WiFi so that the ethernet cable can be removed without disrupting your security system. - Insert the back panel tabs into the slots located at the top of the touchscreen.
- Position the cable exiting the touchscreen, so that the back panel lays flat.
- Press down on the stand to snap the back panel into place.
- After the back panel snaps into place, press down on each corner of the touchscreen to ensure a secure fit.
- Replace the screw securing the back panel to the touchscreen.
- Plug the new power adapter into the bottom socket of a wall outlet.
Take a Look. Did you plug into an outlet controlled by a wall switch? If so, move the plug to a different outlet. The power adapter shouldn’t be plugged into an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. - Place the provided outlet center screw through the screw hole at the top of the power adapter and into the screw hole in the center of the outlet. Gently tighten to secure the power adapter to the outlet.
- If you turned off the power to the outlet prior to beginning installation, turn the power on to the outlet.
- Confirm that this success message appears.
Note: If the system is reporting power loss, perform the following checks:- Confirm the outlet has power.
- Check that the adapter is inserted fully into the outlet.
- Verify that the power plug in inserted fully into the touchscreen.
If these checks don’t resolve the problem, contact us for assistance.
- Place the touchscreen in the location it was in prior to installation. You’re all done.
