Want to use your SD TV adapter on your HDTV? Here's everything you need to know.
Connect your SD TV adapter
To connect your SD TV adapter to your HDTV, you'll need a splitter, five coaxial cables, and an A/B switch.
Note: If you have an HD TV adapter, you will not need an A/B switch.
- Connect one end of a coaxial cable to the cable wall outlet.
- Connect the other end of that coaxial cable to the IN of a splitter.
- Connect a coaxial wire from one OUT of the splitter to one IN of the A/B switch.
- Connect a coaxial wire from the other OUT of the splitter to the IN of the SD TV adapter.
- Connect a coaxial wire from the OUT of the SD TV adapter to the open IN of the A/B switch.
- Connect a coaxial wire from the OUT of the A/B switch to the IN of the television.
Note: If your HDTV has two RF inputs, you do not need an A/B switch — you can connect the outputs of the splitter directly to the two RF inputs on your TV.
Having trouble?
- Make sure your TV and SD TV adapter are both set to channel 3, unless instructed otherwise.
- Keep your SD TV adapter on at all times, and use your Xfinity remote control to turn your TV on or off.
- The SD TV adapter supports a screen aspect ratio of 4:3; your picture will not fill the screen of a widescreen TV.
- While you can't adjust the aspect ratio on the SD TV adapter, you may be able to "stretch" your picture in your television's Settings menu.
- To receive HD programming, you'll need an HD TV adapter or to upgrade to a digital TV Box or HD TV Box.
