What is STIR/SHAKEN?
STIR/SHAKEN together make up the latest technology for authenticating a caller’s identity. When STIR/SHAKEN is implemented by both your phone carrier and a caller’s carrier, it reduces the ability of scammers to spoof phone numbers.
Does Xfinity Mobile support call verification using the STIR/SHAKEN standard?
Yes, Xfinity Mobile supports call verification with compatible phones using STIR/SHAKEN. However, if an Xfinity Mobile customer’s phone gets a call from a carrier that does not support STIR/SHAKEN, then Xfinity Mobile will not be able to verify the authenticity of the caller.
Which Xfinity Mobile devices support call verification display?
With Xfinity Mobile, all Apple iPhones beginning with iOS13 support call verification.
All Samsung Galaxy devices support call verification except the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, Note8, S7, and the S7 edge. LG Stylo 6, LG Stylo 5, LG K51, and the LG S8 ThinQ from Xfinity Mobile all support call verification.
Motorola and Google devices from Xfinity Mobile currently do not support call verification but will support the feature in the future.
What will I see on my Xfinity Mobile phone if I have a device that supports call verification and I receive a verified call?
On a Samsung and LG supported device you will see Number Verified or Verified on the device display when the call is presented. In your list of recent calls you will see a checkmark next to the number that called you.
iPhones do not currently display Number Verified for an incoming call. You will only be able to see a checkmark under the number that called you in your list of recent calls.
What will I see on my Xfinity Mobile phone if I have a device that supports call verification display and I receive an unverified call?
On a Samsung and LG supported device you will see a normal looking incoming call without any call verification indicator on the phone display when the call is presented. In your list of recent calls you won’t see a checkmark next to the number that called you.
On an Apple iPhone supported device you will see a normal looking incoming call without a call verification indicator. In your list of recent calls you won’t see a checkmark next to the number that called you.
What does it mean if I do not see a verified indication on a phone call?
This does not necessarily mean that the call is a spoofed call. It may mean that the caller’s carrier is not yet capable of implementing STIR/SHAKEN.
