More details
To keep your account secure, we recommend resetting or changing your password regularly and taking other steps to protect your information. We know you have a lot of passwords, and it’s easy to forget which one goes with which account. We’re here to help with some simple guidelines to keep your account secure.
- If you have a verified email or mobile phone number, that’s your Xfinity ID.
- Check here if you forgot your Xfinity ID.
- If you forget your Xfinity password, you can reset it by visiting xfinity.com/password.
- If you know your password and just want to update it, you can do so at xfinity.com.
We may require that you reset or update your password at times due to evolving external security threats, updated security requirements, or if we suspect that your Xfinity ID has been compromised elsewhere. For your protection, if we suspect or observe suspicious activity relating to your account, we may also require that you reset your password.
Password tips
Your Xfinity ID password:
- Must be between eight and 128 characters long.
- Must include at least one number and a special character.
- Can't contain your name or username.
Also, avoid using the same password for multiple accounts. It might be easier to remember, but reusing passwords increases the risk of a security compromise across various services if one is compromised.

Be aware
- If you’re the Primary account holder and don't have a mobile number or non-Xfinity email address listed on your account, you can call or chat with us to ask that we add that information, so you can use it to reset your Xfinity ID password.
- Each Manager, Member, or Viewer can update their password. If you can't change your password because you don't have a mobile number or personal (non-Xfinity) email address on your account, you will need the primary account holder to make the change for you.
- Once you’ve reset it, add a mobile number or email address to your profile so we can better assist you with future password resets and troubleshooting.
- If you find yourself in an Xfinity ID password reset loop (continual requests to update, even after you’ve entered new login information), clear cache and cookies on the browser you are using to resolve the issue.
If you use a third-party email program for your Xfinity email, such as Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail, etc., you must update your Xfinity password on those programs.

- If you request a reset but don’t receive a reset code, check that your personal (non-Xfinity) email address or mobile phone number was entered correctly.
- You should also check your Junk or Spam folder if trying to reset by email.
- If you enter your code from a text message and it doesn’t match, check to make sure you’ve entered the reset code rather than the 266278 number that texted you.
