“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” Power Rankings Round 7 – Carter Kills Kama Edition

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction” (CBS)

The Rules: Each week our two combatants will create separate power rankings. The ranking of the person who is voted out of the next episode will determine the number of points the players will earn. For example, if David is voted out this episode, Gabby Pascuzzi will receive four points and Gordon Holmes will receive five points. At the end of the season, the person with the most points will be named the “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” Power Rankings Challenge Champion!

Last Week: Gabby Pascuzzi had Eric in spot eleven, Gordon Holmes had Eric in spot twelve. So, the current score is Team Gabby 68, Team Gordon 67.

Quick Note: Rankings are not based on who the player thinks is most likely to win. The smart strategy is to rank players based on how safe you think they are in the upcoming vote.

Gabby’s Score: 68

1. Lauren: The definition of badass is coming to after fainting and your first word being “Damnit.” Also, judging by Aubry’s over-the-top jury reaction, I feel like this next Tribal Council is about to be crazy, so the rest of this list is pretty much just wild guessing.1. Kelley: This is such a tough week to call because we potentially have three factions (Kelley/Wardog/Lauren, Gavin/Julia/Victoria, and Julie/Ron) and three outliers (Aurora, David, and Rick). So, this could go a million ways. At the end of the day, I'm trusting Kelley to know what to do with her idol.
2. Kelley: Neither of the Lesu ladies played their idol, which means 1) I have to send myself to the Edge of Extinction because I bet last week that an idol would be played, and 2) Kelley and Lauren were confident enough in the plan that they knew they didn’t need to play them. They’re more connected than we think.2. Lauren: And when you add all these factions with the forty idols and half idols that are in the game, it makes ranking based on safety nearly impossible. Keep that idol close, Lauren.
3. Wardog: He did a great job of getting in the young Kamas’ ears and waking them up to see the people running the show.3. Victoria: Pluuuuuuuus…we’ve got Aubry’s mega Tribal reaction and Probst saying we’re going to get a “Survivor” first from the preview so I don’t know what to think. And since Victoria was one of four Kamas voting for Eric, and didn’t seem to be sticking her neck out too far, I’m going to put her third.
4. David: A custody battle is hard on everyone involved. The two idol halves need to be reunited ASAP. What the parents did to the twins in The Parent Trap seems really unethical when you think about it.4. Rick: I can’t say I blame you for not wanting to work with classic Lesu, but you shouldn’t completely shut any door. Hopefully you and David can mend fences while everyone else is focusing on bigger fish.
5. Rick: I was surprised and a little disappointed at how emphatically Rick declared his allegiance to the other side. Turning your back on your #1 guy, David, seems risky when you just met the Kama members a few days ago.  5. David: Are we past the point of voting out returnees because they’re returnees yet? Are we more interested in how they fit into our plans? David’s been an amazing moving piece who hasn’t gotten on anyone’s bad side. Kudos.
6. Julie: I’ve felt for a while that Julie is in a really good place in the game and might win. Therefore, I’m placing her smack-dab in the middle despite her being blindsided. Sometimes a lapse in power early in the merge can help you later because people aren’t worried about you.6. Wardog: Five gold stars, two thumbs up, and a Holmsey (not a thing) for the Dog of War last week. Going forward, he has two prominent shields in Kelley and Lauren. The problem is; both of those shields have an idol and neither has told him about them.
7. Julia: I can respect swinging when you have the opportunity, especially when you’re a strong, independent woman who doesn’t want to play someone else’s game. But I do worry that it was too soon.7. Aurora: I think negotiating to win immunity was a great way to find out where you stand with Kama, but the timing was wonky due to Lauren’s questionable state. I think you’ll survive that social faux pas, but you need to read the room better.
8. Victoria: Same for Victoria. Her instincts were right in wanting to wait one or two more votes to turn on Kama, but I understand that she went where the momentum was heading. Just hope that the pendulum doesn’t swing back her way.8. Gavin: I’m not sure getting rid of Eric was the best move for you. Sure, we haven’t seen you two strategizing recently, but losing him makes you one of the most prominent challenge threats.
9. Gavin: He lost his closest ally who also served as a meat shield and replaced him with two women who typically aren’t viewed as huge threats mid-merge.9. Julia: It looks like Julia was the one steering the ship on last week’s big Kama Six mutiny. But, will she take credit for it? If she does, that’s good for her resume, but it’ll put a big target on her back. And why wouldn’t the Lesu Three work with Ron and Julie? So much up in the air.
10. Ron: A slice of humble pie probably tastes really good on an empty stomach. If he can let someone else take a turn driving, he may avoid his torch being snuffed.10. Julie: Ah…the teeter-totter has teetered to the other side. What was once on top, is now seemingly…on the bottom. Just like with the Canine of Conflict, one of my favorite measures of a player is how they perform when they have to scramble. Let’s see how Julie does.
11. Aurora: Was it uncomfortable that Aurora was negotiating for a win while Lauren was passed out mere feet away? A little. Was it commendable? Hell yeah. She’s in a game and you have to take every opportunity you can get. The only downside is that the lack of response revealed how little power she has.11. Ron: I really, really liked what you and Eric were doing together. Yeah, you pushed the “family visit” button a little too hard. But, you were making things happen. If you survive this vote, I can see you dancing your way a lot further, but that’s a big “if.”
