MTV has always been groundbreaking in its diverse slate of scripted and reality programming, as well as the talent that is a part of the landscape. Starting next Monday, you’ll see a perfect example of just how fabulously diverse MTV is, especially with the LGBT community.
Their two-hour block of programming, entitled “Mondays on MTV,” features three returning half-hour series and one very welcome new addition. The returning series include the final season of long-running comedy “Awkward,” the second half of the already-amazing Season 2 of “Faking It” (check out my on-set interviews with cast members Gregg Sulkin and Michael Willett, and Bailey DeYoung…I’ll have my chat with stars Katie Stevens and Rita Volk on Monday), plus the new season of “Girl Code.“
“Awkward” has included LGBT characters throughout its run, “Faking It” dives in deep with characters who are gay, questioning and even intersex character, and “Girl Code” has a resident lesbian to weigh in on the girl-centric issues of the day.
But the new entry to the schedule, “Todrick,” is sure to not only entertain, but will probably get you off the couch to dance along with the infectious energy of out star Todrick Hall. I’ll have my interview with Hall up tomorrow but, for now, check out the cool-as-hell promo for MTV’s new Monday night schedule and see if you don’t get out of your seat or at least tap that foot. Go ahead. Todrick would approve!
The MTV Monday night schedule starts Monday at 9pm right after the MTV Video Music Awards.
