Mama Pope will return to “Scandal” and Maya Rudolph brings laughs to “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Plus, there’s my watchlist and what’s hot (Kelly Rowland’s new bundle of joy) and not (the Oklahoma cop raping women).
The ladies of Shondaland are definitely making the rounds this week.
Even though we all pretty much figured “Murder” would be good (Viola doesn’t seem like she’d sign on for junk), Viola knew it’d be a hit because it’s following “Scandal” and she basically had no other choice.
"I am the failed pilot queen! I have done so many failed pilots that I've said this one has got to hit," Viola proclaimed.
I remember a few of those pilots and short-lived TV shows she starred in. Fortunately, “Murder” is the season’s top-rated new drama and will be around for a while. Millions of viewers live for scenes like the infamous last nine words episode when Viola’s character Annalise Keating removed her makeup, jewelry and wig before confronting her cheating (and possibly murderous) hubby.
"I said, 'Listen, she can't go to bed with a wig on. She cannot be in that bedroom with her wig on because women don't go to bed with their wigs on,'" Viola said.
Ah, love her!
Check out Viola's sit down with Ellen below to find out what her mother thinks of her sexual scenes and other deets about "Murder" below. "How to Get Away with Murder" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Mama Pope Returns!
Yes, Olivia Pope’s “Scandal”-ous mother, Maya Pope, will return just in time for the holidays. Entertainment Weekly reports that Khandi Alexander will reprise her role as Olivia’s terrorist mother in “Scandal’s” midseason finale that’ll air on Nov. 20. Hmm, this is pretty interesting given that we last saw Mama Pope in the hole (solitary confinement), captured by her hubby Papa “Rowan” Pope (I guess he’s not doubling as Eli anymore?). So does she get out? And if so, didn’t Papa Pope tell people, namely Fitz the President, that he took care of AKA killed Mama Pope (I know that reads a bit disturbing)? I mean, if Mama Pope gets out and starts running her mouth, will she be the one to reveal that she had absolutely nothing to do with the deaths of Liv’s bestie Harrison and Fitz’s son, Jerry? Will Fitz and Liv then turn on Papa Pope? *sigh* And we thought the Lannisters were a mess! “Scandal” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Maya Rudolph talks kiddies and Halloween on “Kimmel”
I like Maya Rudolph. She’s funny, super talented, appears to be kind (I have yet to meet her) and Minnie Ripperton, her deceased mother, is one of my favorite singers (yes, she gets props for that). Whenever I see her on TV, I try to give her a little bit of my time. So you know I was all over her “Jimmy Kimmel Live” appearance Tuesday night. The interview wasn’t particularly groundbreaking but it was cute. Maya, who was there to promote her new animated film “Big Hero 6,” talked about her four children (yes, four!), her own childhood memories and spending Halloween in Mexico. “Halloween isn’t really celebrated in Mexico but I think they got the message that there’s candy involved so the streets were flooded with people,” Maya shared. Yeah, candy will do it! "Big Hero 6," which also stars Damon Wayans Jr., hits theaters Friday. Watch Maya chat with Jimmy Kimmel below.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: Kelly Rowland and her husband Tim Witherspoon welcoming their son, Titan Jewell Witherspoon (Congrats!).
NOT: Daniel Holtzclaw, the Oklahoma police officer, who is accused of raping eight black women (Thirteen total women have come out against him to date. This dude is sick!).
HOT: K. Michelle’s honesty about her plastic surgery (She says she doesn’t want little girls thinking she was born the way she looks. Gotta give her dap for that!).
NOT: Religious leaders who hide their true agenda when persuading their congregation to vote a particular way (The guilty know who they are.).
