Plenty is happening today in black entertainment including “The Boondocks'” creator Aaron McGruder’s “Black Jesus” series, Sean “Diddy” Combs making a play for Fuse, Gabby Sidibe coming to Fox and Naomi Campbell’s new BFF, NeNe Leakes. Keep reading for more deets.

Aaron McGruder creates “Black Jesus” series. Aaron McGruder sure knows how to make a girl smile. First, it was announced that his animated series, “The Boondocks,” was returning in April for its fourth season after a four-year hiatus. Now, we learn that McGruder’s creating a new series, “Black Jesus,” that’ll also air on Adult Swim. “The new half-hour live-action scripted comedy finds Jesus living in present-day Compton, Calif., on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers,” The Hollywood Reporter shares. Oh? It’ll star John Witherspoon, Kali Hawk and Charlie Murphy. I definitely will check it out and hope that’s it’ll make me laugh. A premiere date hasn’t been released for “Black Jesus” though it’ll air this year, according to THR. Read more here.

Diddy wants to add Fuse to roster. Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs–whose empire includes Bad Boy Records, the Sean Jean fashion line, five-month old Revolt TV and a stake in Ciroc–has put in a bid for music-based Fuse cable-TV channel, according to Billboard.com. Diddy, who hopes to make the channel an extension of Revolt TV, is one of many bidders hoping to rope the 11-year-old Fuse, Billboard.com says. Fuse is owned by Madison Square Garden Co. I’ve only watched each channel a handful of times but they seem similar in many ways, at least judging from their websites. Maybe Diddy wants to control the competition? Read more here.

Gabby Sidibe lands another TV role. Gabourey Sidibe reunites with Lee Daniels for his Fox hip-hop industry drama also starring Terrence Howard, “Empire,” according to Deadline.com. The “American Horror Story: Coven” actress, whose role will be recurring, will join regulars Trai Byers, Grace Gealey and Kaitlin Doubleday as the latest to be attached to the project. “It centers on Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), a charismatic, savvy music superstar who is about to take his company, Empire Entertainment, public,” Deadline.com reports. Sidibe will play Lyon’s hard-working assistant, Becky (I know a couple of black Beckys). Last week, it was announced that Malik Yoba joined the cast and Taraji P. Henson had previously been attached as well. Lee Daniels reeling it in for TV ought to be interesting but him doing a hip-hop project has some scratching their heads.  The cast is interesting, too. Will you tune in? In the meantime, I’ll continue to keep my eyes open for new developments. Read more here.

Naomi Campbell and NeNe Leakes hit off. Apparently, the gorgeous supermodel is the only woman NeNe Leakes hasn’t fallen out with. “The Dancing with the Stars” contestant visits Naomi Campbell, host of Oxygen’s “The Face,” to learn how to have a badass stroll like her legginess. Naomi said NeNe’s walk was fine but asked for a lesson in shading. Come again?! Naomi, girl, as NeNe pointed out, if anybody knows about shading, it’s you (I still love you, though!). Nonetheless, the lesson continued and they really seemed to have mutual respect and admiration. Whew, what a relief. Not sure if I could stomach Leakes’ having another run-in or Naomi tossing a cell phone. Oh, speaking of, Naomi apparently wants to be on “Saturday Night Live” and says she’s good with them parodying the infamous acts. Really? Read more here.

On my watchlist? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand…
“Drop Dead Diva”: I’m still finishing up this series before its sixth and final season returns March 23 at 9 p.m. EST. It will air Sundays on Lifetime. Catch up here.

“The Face”: All of this talk about Naomi Campbell has me curious about this reality show’s past episode. Luckily we have season one and two available online. It airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on Oxygen. Watch it here.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes and her “Dancing with the Stars” partner Tony Dovolani’s official show photos. (Girl is 46 and fabulous!)
NOT: Some reality TV shows. (It’s been said before but lately, when I watch a few–regardless of who’s involved–my head just hurts.)

HOT: Oscar-nominated entertainer Pharrell Williams teaming with the United Nations to create an International Day of Happiness. (Every day should be a happy one but this is a start.)
NOT: Swirlr, an interracial-dating web series that seems more forced than authentically allowing couples to fall in love. (Not sure if I’m feeling this one…)
