Oprah Winfrey’s looking to make Broadway debut. Oprah didn’t get an Oscar nod for her work in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” but maybe she’ll take home a Tony instead. The media maven’s hoping to make her Broadway debut in “Night Mother,” according to The New York Times. Oprah wants to star in a revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play opposite Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald as a “mother struggling to stop her daughter from killing herself,” according to The New York Times. Tony winner George C. Wolfe would direct the play aimed at the 2015-2016 Broadway season. “Oprah has had a longstanding desire to act on Broadway,” said Scott Sanders, a lead producer of the project. Honestly, I’m not mad at her. She spent nearly half her life dedicated to her talk show and now has the chance to pursue other desires. Why not?

“The Haves and the Have Nots” scores big for OWN. Tuesday’s episode of OWN’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” earned 3.4 million viewers, making the telecast “its most-watched telecast in series history,” according to an OWN press release. The numbers were compiled by The Nielsen Company. I didn’t watch that episode but I saw the previous week’s while at a friend’s house and knew what was coming: more drama! If you like a soapy drama with mother-daughter drama, hubby-wife drama and plenty of twists and turns, this Tyler Perry show is for you! Kind of reminds you of another popular TV show, doesn’t it?

Jill Scott to mentor on “The Voice.” I’ve been a fan of Jilly from Philly since The Roots’ 1999 CD, “Things Fall Apart,” and her 2000 debut album, “Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1,” still gets heavy play from me. So you know I love that she’s going to be a mentor on the upcoming season of NBC’s “The Voice.” (Big ups to Usher for encouraging this!) Jill’s a veteran, a gifted writer and vocalist and budding actress. Her work reflects various genres and I’m sure the contestants will appreciate her two cents. The two-night season premiere airs Feb. 24 and 25. Catch up on past episodes here.

Pharrell Williams performing at the Oscars. “Happy” and “Get Lucky” are two feel-good songs that I’ve been jamming to lately. While my dad really liked Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and wanted it to win something, anything, at this year’s Grammys, I was cool with Pharrell, Daft Punk and the legendary Nile Rodgers’ “Get Lucky” cleaning up there. Pharrell, who also earned an Oscar nod for “Happy,” which is featured in “Despicable Me 2,” will certainly keep things lively at this year’s show.
