Have you ever wondered what it was like when dinosaurs roamed the earth? Twentieth Century Fox will transport you to the Late Cretaceous period 70 million years ago with their 3-D animated film, “Walking with Dinosaurs” in theaters now.

Based on the hugely popular BBC television documentary miniseries of the same name, the film tells the story of three Pachyrhinosaurus named Patchi (Justin Long), Scowler (Skyler Stone), and Juniper (Tiya Sircar) who grow from infants into adulthood. Patchi, the runt of the litter, is overshadowed by his older, much stronger brother Scowler. But in this traditional underdog-turns-hero tale, Patchi proves that a believing in yourself can help you overcome any obstacle. Serving as narrator of the story is Alex (John Leguizamo), the Alexornis Bird who is also Patchi’s best friend and biggest supporter.

We caught up with Mr. Leguizamo (“Carlito’s Way”, “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar“) last week during his Miami leg of the press tour, to find out what it was like working with the writers to bring life to Alex— who he says was a precursor to the parrot. We also got details about his upcoming HBO comedy special “Ghetto Klown,” and the shows he can’t get enough of including “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men,” and “The Walking Dead.”

“Walking with Dinosaurs” is rated PG and available in theaters nationwide.
