Congratulations mi gente, you made it to Friday! After a week of mucho trabajo, it's time to chill out in front of the television with a nice glass of vino and finally relax- you deserve it. Since you work so hard, you might have missed some great episodes this week but you can catch up tonight or over the weekend. Don't worry, Xfinity (and I!) have your back!
We are still one week away from the premiere of season 3 of “Grimm” and the highly anticipated series premiere of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in “Dracula“, so it’s a good time to catch something fun you may have never viewed before. At 8:30pm History En Español has a new episode of “Pawn Stars” that puts the guys face-to-face with what could be an autographed Babe Ruth baseball card and a 1970’s machine that belonged to daredevil Evel Knievel.
During the 9pm time slot I will be tuning in to Telemundo for “Marido En Alquiler.” If you’ve not dedicated enough time to this novela don’t sleep on it. It has a ridiculously good looking and talented cast including Juan Soler, Sonya Smith, Gabriel Coronel, Miguel Varoni, Maritza Rodriguez, Paolo Quevedo, Jose Guillermo Cortines, and Gabriel Valenzuela. So many people are addicted to the series that the network recently announced it would begin airing the show for two solid hours starting October 21st. So take the weekend and binge watch any episodes you might have missed via this link.
Whoever said you should only be watching first run shows is dead wrong. PBS is airing repeats of one of my favorite shows EVER– “Que Pasa USA.” This groundbreaking series gave viewers an inside look at what it was like to be part of the Peña family– a multi-generational group adjusting to life in America after emigrating from Cuba. You might recognize Joe, the youngest member of the Peña clan and the only one to have been born in America. Actor Steven Bauer (known then by his birth name Rocky Echevarria), portrayed the role of a 1970’s high school teenager who often suffered an identity crisis due to the clash between his American roots and his Hispanic upbringing. This show helped catapult him to Hollywood where he portrayed Manolo in the classic gangster film, “Scarface” and most recently as an Israeli assassin on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.”
I can't recommend this show enough to everyone no matter where you're from. It depicts the plight of every immigrant and their struggle to fit in with the community of their adopted country. BONUS: The show is in Spanglish so even if you don't speak Spanish, a lot of what is being said can be easily deciphered or is explained by one of the English speaking characters.
What You Missed This Week:
– Already on its 5th season, “The League” is fun comedy about a group of guys and one female in a fantasy-football league. It stars Mark Duplass, Paul Scheer, and two of my favorites Janina Gavankar and Nadine Velasquez. Watch the latest episode of the FXX series via this link.
Weekend Hot Pick:
Sunday is normally a jam-packed TV night for me with so many of my favorites on. I don’t need to tell you to watch “Homeland“, “Boardwalk Empire“, or “The Walking Dead.” But I am telling you to make time on your busy viewing schedule to catch Kenia Ontiveros confess to boyfriend Larry Hernandez that she’s pregnant with their second child on, “Larrymania.” The poor thing was terrified and Larry’s fans know he can be a bit unpredictable. How will he react? Tune your televisions to mun2 at 9pm ET to find out.
Catch last week’s episode of “Larrymania” below and follow the insanity that is the life of Larry Hernandez:
