Busted! ‘Price is Right’ Appearance Exposes Employee’s Fraud

A former postal carrier was exposed as a fraud after an appearance on “The Price is Right,” according to CBS Raleigh affiliate WRAL-TV and CBS News.

The employee, Cathy Wrench Cashwell, from Fayetteville, N.C., had previously claimed that an injury to her shoulder in 2004 left her unable to do her job. She then began receiving worker's comp after she allegedly claimed that her injuries hindered her ability to bend, reach, grasp, sit, etc.

However an appearance on “The Price is Right” in September 2009, showed a different story.

According to a September 2012 indictment filed against her worker's compensation claim, Cashwell first "raised her left arm above her head and gripped the handle with her left hand." For the second spin, she allegedly "raised both arms above her head and gripped the same handle with both hands."

The indictment states that Cashwell ziplined with her husband during a vacation and was seen carrying heavy grocery bags and furniture on multiple occasions in 2011.

Cashwell ended up pleading guilty to fraud in federal court on Monday and will be sentenced this September.
