‘DWTS’ Elimination: Does ‘The Bachelor’ Get Jilted?

Peta Murgatroyd, Sean Lowe (ABC)

In a “Dancing with the Stars” season in which there had been no elimination surprises, I was sure Sean Lowe would be the next to go. Sean’s runaway groom and magician dances were contrived and only earned a cumulative score of 42 out of 60, the lowest of Monday night. Plus, Sean lacked the lovability his rival, “General Hospital” star Ingo Rademacher, had been cultivating lately.

So I was looking for a thorny bush instead of a bed of roses for “The Bachelor” on the Tuesday night “DWTS” results show.

Here was what happened:

The first results of the night proved that I was right that Ingo and his partner Kym Johnson were going to the semifinals. Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough were called in jeopardy, which I didn’t believe for a second.

The encore dance was a total no-brainer tonight, as Zendaya Coleman reprised her perfect 30 trio salsa dance with Val Chmerkovskiy and Gleb Savchenko.

Backstage footage from Monday night showed Jacoby Jones saying, “Why can’t I do that?” about Zendaya’s dance and producers used subtitles for the football star at last. That’s what we’ve needed all season! Jacoby’s behind-the-scenes clips showed him mumbling about getting a wedgie from his costume and the subtitles had disappeared, darn it. Zendaya was declared safe to dance again, while Jacoby’s future was in doubt.

“DWTS” golden boy Derek Hough then introduced his special set piece—he was going to dance in a box, Fred Astaire-style!

But not yet. First, judge Len Goodman was shown saying on Monday night that Kellie and Derek’s dance was no better than Sean’s! Whoa! That was even worse than his meltdown with the other judges!

“DWTS” Judge Len Goodman Has a Major Meltdown

Jason DeRulo made an exciting comeback after having fractured his neck last year, performing his single “The Other Side” on the “DWTS” floor.

Back to our couples and it was time to learn which dances viewers had chosen for the celebrities to perform next week: flamenco for Kellie, Charleston for Ingo, hip hop for Zendaya, disco for Sean, Afro jazz for Aly, and lindy hop for Jacoby. Of course, one star wouldn't have to perform at all and we'd soon find out who got the short straw!

Remember Ingo’s son Peanut? He was featured in “The Adventures of Peanut,” a cute package showing the adorable boy driving a mini car down the halls of “DWTS” with Andy Dick, learning dance moves from Len, and chatting with Jacoby in the red room (finally, they found someone who can understand him!).

Derek and Jaimie Goodwin did their dancing on the ceiling number in an amazing "DWTS" red rotating set. This one was way cool and got some applause from reporters backstage.

Emeli Sande performed “Next to Me” with all three judges dancing along behind their table (guess they kissed and made up from Monday night!) and then we saw Sean saying he wished he could get a do-over of his first dance from the previous night. The next couple put through to the semi-finals was Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas, but Sean and partner Peta Murgatroyd were, quite predictably, in the bottom three.

Finally, it was time to learn who would stay and who would go with our three stars in danger-Sean, Jacoby, and Kellie. We quickly found out Kellie was safe and laughed backstage. Jacoby and Sean-who would go home?

This week, the star eliminated and leaving "DWTS" Season 16 competition was…SEAN LOWE! Bye, bye "Bachelor"!

Sean gave it his best shot but never could climb out of the below-average dance category. But hey, he's done two reality shows now! Sean called the show "an incredible opportunity." Now he can plan his wedding.
