“Lost” fave Jorge Garcia has been cast as a colorful investigator in a new CBS drama starring Charlie Cox of “Boardwalk Empire.”

Garcia, who was beloved in the role of “Hurley” on “Lost,” is joining this prospective new series about a former priest from a powerful political family who leaves the priesthood to become a lawyer, according to several stories on the Garcia casting (including this one on the Hollywood Reporter Web site).

Like a host of other new shows we’ve been reporting on lately, this series — titled “The Ordained” — is only in the pilot stage, which means one episode is being produced.

CBS has until May to decide whether to order a series from this single pilot, which is vying with other pilots for inclusion on all the networks’ fall lineups.

On “The Ordained,” Garcia will play an investigator who works for the law firm where the Cox character also works.

Cox, 30, is an English actor who gained fame on “Boardwalk Empire” as the handsome and charismatic Irish enforcer Owen Sleater, who worked for Atlantic City crime kingpin Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) and slept with Nucky’s wife, Margaret (played by Kelly Macdonald). We were surprised when Cox wound up in a box — killed by a rival gang and delivered in a crate to Nucky’s house last season on “Boardwalk.”

Now we know a possible reason why the Cox character was killed off: The actor was eyeing other opportunities such as this CBS pilot.

As for Garcia, he’s been seen in a recurring role on “Once Upon a Time” on ABC lately.
