Eastbound & Down” wraps up its third season this weekend with an episode that might double as a series finale. Series star and co-creator Danny McBride has long held the belief that the show couldn’t go on beyond a third season, and he explained that idea in more detail to Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night. McBride said that while he and co-creator Jody Hill “really dig doing the show,” they always imagined HBO would pull the plug at some point due to the comedy’s over-the-top raunch factor. “For us, [we thought], If we get to a third season that would be a victory,” McBride said. “We’ve done that, so now we’re resting on our laurels.” While that isn’t exactly a confirmation that Kenny Powers is handing in his glove for good, it also doesn’t seem that McBride is in any rush to flat-out deny the possibility of  another season. But for all the Kenny fans, there could be a glimmer of hope if McBride follows precedent and takes a play out of the Larry David HBO handbook. Since the beginning of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” David has famously asserted he would never do another season — and for those counting, Season 8 of “Curb” just wrapped last September.
