We’re not sure whether the off-the-wall version of Charlie Sheen that we saw during the first half of 2011 is back, but it does sure seem like that version is doing battle with the contrite version we’ve been seeing recently. Case in point: Sheen has sent Ashton Kutcher a note apologizing for saying that he “sucked” on “Two and a Half Men,” according to TMZ.
If you recall, Sheen went on the warpath after Warner Bros. sent him a cease and desist letter to stop using images from “Men” to promote his new show, “Anger Management.” First he told the gossip site that the show was a “steaming pile of ass,” then said he was “tired of pretending that the show doesn’t suck, I’m tired of pretending that Ashton doesn’t suck.”
Now, though, he realizes that tossing Ashton under the proverbial bus just because he's ticked at Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre wasn't fair, as his letter to Ashton indicates: "My bad. I was disrespectful to a man doing his best. I got excited and I threw you into the crossfire, but the rest of my statement I stand behind. You however, deserve better."
So he stands behind his contention that the show stinks and the writing is bad, but Ashton is aces in his book. Um, OK. So Contrite Charlie is still in there somewhere, but it seems like Tiger Blood Charlie is still winning this current battle.
Watch this scene from “Men” and judge for yourself if it’s what Charlie said it is:
