Jorge Garcia Gets The Island Treatment In New J.J. Abrams Pilot

Hurley’s headed to a different island.

Deadline reports ‘Lost‘ star Jorge Garcia has signed up to star in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Fox pilot ‘Alcatraz.’

Described to be "about secrets and the most infamous prison of all time," the series focuses on a group of missing Alcatraz prisoners and guards who mysteriously reappear in the present day. Garcia will play "hippy geek" Dr. Diego Soto, the world's leading expert on Alcatraz who is tasked with unveiling the truth about their disappearance 30 years ago.

Up next for Garcia is a guest-starring role on tonight’s Thanksgiving episode of CBS’s ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ He’ll also appear in ABC’s midseason comedy ‘Mr. Sunshine,’ starring Matthew Perry.

If you’re keeping count, Garcia is the third ‘Lost’ castmember to land a new network project.¬† Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn have a put pilot commitment with NBC to star as former special ops agents in NBC’s ‘Odd Jobs.’

‘Alcatraz’ is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and is scheduled to begin shooting in January in San Francisco and Vancouver.
