Xfinity Mobile only auto-connects you to secure Xfinity WiFi networks. When you’re out in the world, your phone automatically searches for the safest networks available. With Xfinity's secure WiFi hotspots, every piece of information you send is scrambled into a code that no one else can access. This makes it much more difficult for outsiders to eavesdrop on your digital life.
Are Xfinity WiFi hotspots secure?
While we only automatically connect you to secure Xfinity WiFi networks, not all WiFi connections are created equal. Some Xfinity WiFi hotspots are secure and some are unsecure. Xfinity Mobile always prioritizes connecting you to secure WiFi networks, however, when no secure networks are available, you can choose to connect to an unsecure hotspot.
Secure Xfinity hotspots are named “XFINITY” or "Xfinity Mobile" and have a lock symbol next to them in your WiFi settings screen. A secure hotspot provides a connection using industry-leading standards for encryption.
Unsecure Xfinity hotspots are named “xfinitywifi” and are open for public use. An unsecure hotspot provides a connection using a lower level of encryption.
Xfinity is committed to making your WiFi experience as safe as possible, and we are constantly improving the security of our network.
